How do you keep in touch with Small Group Coaches?  How can you carve out time to hear the God stories that are happening in your Small Groups?  Here is what one Coordinator did:

Last night my coaches and their spouses joined me for dinner at O’Charleys.  All of my coaches attended.

Our goal for the evening was to have a time together as a team and make sure all knew each other,  communicate a great big thanks for their service and share information about upcoming events.  A couple of them were not able to attend the Atlanta Coaches Retreat in October, so this was our first team gathering since our Coordinators draft.  We had many laughs and stories to share.

After thanking them for their service for 2009, we discussed upcoming opportunities in GroupLife.  I explained about the on-line Small Group health survey for their groups that was coming.  We talked about hearing the story over attendance and reviewed the reports from the last couple months.  I reminded them of our slogan to “pray on the way  & two minutes a day” and make sure they stay in touch with their leaders. We talked about  looking for apprentices to host for the upcoming Group Link and we mentioned that the new study would be called “Exposed”, talking about the characteristics of Christ.  And lastly we announced the Purpose Driven Small Groups conference in April at LifePoint and we need them to help serve at the event.

We also discussed the hurdles/issues some of our groups are facing and how to handle them.

Jon

Jon covered several items in this dinner that would get lost in an email or phone call.  He helped communicate the importance Coaches their valuable role in SG ministry.

Thanks Jon for your example to us all on how to spend time with people, listen to people and share with them in order to see lives transformed.
