Spring is here and so is Bugs Baseball, our eight-yr old travel baseball team.  This past weekend we traveled to Gallatin TN where we won the pool play and played in the championship game.  We won the championship game by one run.

Some memories of the game were our second baseman Alex diving for a line drive, rolling over to a sitting position and throwing to first to double off a runner.   Another memory will be of our shortstop, Gresham going up the middle behind second to snag a grounder, doing a 360 spin and throwing the lead runner out at second.  What makes these plays even better is that the assisting players in each play were in position to make the play complete.  It is amazing  what 8 yr olds can learn and put into practice.

Another memory is of my first Chapel service for the Bugs.  Since we play all weekend in other cities, worshiping at a local church on Sunday morning is impossible.   So we designated a time to get together and share a story from the Bible.  I spoke on “who is your hero and why?”  We discussed doing good things’ like Jesus did and being an imitator of him.  Speaking to 8 yr olds is a lot tougher than I thought.  But we will continue to do this because it ain’t all about the game, it is also about life.
