I played baseball in Brooklyn a couple of weeks ago.  We were there to meet a pastor who is running a few baseball teams for children and teens.  It was a quick flight to New York on Friday and up early Saturday to get to the field.  We spent the day working with kids ages 8-15.  Every person we met were so appreciative of our time and efforts to help with the teams.

This trip was to see if God was leading FBC Smyrna to NYC to lead what I call a “Charlie Mitchell Baseball Clinic.”  I have been a part of several of these clinics where we teach kids and coaches the fundamentals of baseball.  Every clinic includes a chance for the kids to practice what they are learning as well as an explanation of what it means to be a Christ-follower.  You see Charlie loves baseball, but he loves Christ more and is always wanting to share what Christ has done for him.   I leave every clinic thanking Christ for Charlie, his passion for baseball and teaching, his passion for Christ.  I also leave ever clinic answering someones questions about becoming a Christ-follower.

In the last few months I have watched a coach and a player become Christ followers through these clinics.  Now God has opened the door for us to take the clinic to NYC this summer.  God is at work to prepare the kids and coaches as well as our clinic team for the mission trip this summer.  I am so excited that God allows us to use the passion he has given us to share His love.

What passion or hobby do you have that God is wanting to use for His Kingdom?  You never know where it will take you if you just give it to him.
